Mencekam, Marinir Lucuti Senjata Ratusan Polisi

Ratusan Marinir dan tentara bersenjata lengkap mendadak datangi markas-markas polisi di Kota Acapulco, Negara Bagian Guerrero, Meksiko.

Kemarin, Rabu (26/9) mereka melucuti senjata milik sekitar 700 polisi di kota tersebut. Itu dilakukan setelah pemerintah pusat mendengar kabar bahwa polisi-polisi di kota tersebut bersekutu dengan sindikat narkoba.

Guerrero Coordination Group, nama satuan gabungan Marinir dan tentara itu, mengambil alih wewenang polisi Acapulco. Untuk sementara, tidak ada polisi yang aktif di kota itu.

Selain Marinir dan tentara, Guerrero Coordination Group melibatkan kementerian pertahanan dan kejaksaan negeri serta kepolisian pusat. Mereka bertugas memastikan kasus tersebut tidak jalan di tempat.

"Kami menyita senjata, rompi antipeluru, dan radio komunikasi," ujar Alvarez Heredia, jubir satuan gabungan itu, kepada Reuters.

Setelah senjata mereka dilucuti, polisi-polisi itu menjalani pemeriksaan. Untuk sementara, polisi-polisi itu berstatus nonaktif.

"Sampai saat ini ada dua komandan yang ditahan terkait kasus pembunuhan," ungkap Heredia. Kasus pembunuhan yang melibatkan dua komandan polisi tersebut berkaitan erat dengan narkoba. Itu memperkuat dugaan bahwa polisi-polisi Acapulco memang bekerja sama dengan sindikat narkoba.

Menurut Heredia, pihaknya tak hanya memeriksa polisi. Kepala Bidang Keamanan Acapulco Max Lorenzo Sedano juga diperiksa. Penyidik menyelidiki Lorenzo dan lembaganya karena tidak berbuat apa-apa saat polisi "bermain" dengan sindikat narkoba.
